Present Simple vs Present Continuous

By Loxivia - September 18, 2026 - 1 min read

The present simple describes routines and facts, while the present continuous describes actions happening now or around now.

Present simple

I work every day. She likes coffee.

Present continuous

I am working right now. She is drinking coffee.

Watch out for state verbs such as know, like and believe - they are rarely used in the continuous form.
