Learn these key words and phrases. They appear throughout the lesson and the dialogue below.

Use the present continuous for actions happening now or around now.

Structure: Subject + am/is/are + verb-ing.

When to use it: Actions in progress, temporary situations and future arrangements.

• Spelling -ing: Drop final e and double final consonants when needed. write → writing · run → running

Notice the target language in these examples:

• I am studying English.
• They are playing football.

Read this short dialogue. Then cover it and try to remember one line for each speaker.

Avoid these frequent errors:

• Using the present continuous with state verbs (I am knowing).
• Forgetting the auxiliary verb.

Say your answers out loud, then write them down:

• Raconte tes dernières vacances.
• Explique un projet pour demain.
• Use at least three phrases from the vocabulary table.
