Learn these key words and phrases. They appear throughout the lesson and the dialogue below.

Talk about real and imaginary situations.

Zero, first, second and third conditionals use different tenses.

When to use it: Rules, future possibilities, hypotheticals and regrets.

Notice the target language in these examples:

• If it rains, we will stay.
• If I were you, I would apply.

Read this short dialogue. Then cover it and try to remember one line for each speaker.

Avoid these frequent errors:

• Mixing the clause tenses.
• Using will in the if-clause of a first conditional.

Say your answers out loud, then write them down:
