Use the present simple for habits, routines and general facts.

The present simple describes things that are generally true or happen regularly.

Structure: Subject + base verb (add -s/-es for he/she/it).

When to use it: Routines, habits, timetables, general truths and permanent situations.

• Third person -s: Add -s or -es to the verb with he, she, it. He works. · She watches TV.
• Negatives and questions: Use do/does for negatives and questions. I do not like coffee. · Does she live here?

Notice the target language in these examples:

• I work in a school.
• She plays tennis every Sunday.
• Water boils at 100 degrees.

Read this short dialogue. Then cover it and try to remember one line for each speaker.

Avoid these frequent errors:

• Forgetting the -s for he/she/it (He go → He goes).
• Using the present simple for actions happening now.

Say your answers out loud, then write them down:

• Dis bonjour à un camarade et donne ton nom.
• Compte de 1 à 10 à voix haute.
• Use at least three phrases from the vocabulary table.
